she paused almost immediately after he had asked the question, and he immediately felt guilt churning deeply in the pit of his stomach. that had been too deep, more than likely, he really wouldn't want someone prying into the details of one of his siblings deaths if they happened to pass away, which he also didn't want happening. it was just the thought of losing a sibling, someone who is so close to you, a part of you even, it was just too much for his head to spin around and he had answered in the only way he knew how, by asking a question. he was probably testing the waters here, maybe he had crossed a line or something, but the conversation seemed to have beaten bea up. she sat up, and he followed her up onto the bed sitting next to her with his legs dangling off the edge and an arm wrapped tightly around her waist. he was letting her know he would be there to support her no matter what. then her words came, and his body froze. his limbs were stiff and heavy, and his face stuck in shock. that was awful, but it wasn't her fault and he'd have to tell her that.
judging by the size of the town from driving in, ash figured that news spread like wildfire. gossip was probably like the plague just like it had been in doncaster, so bea and her family had probably gotten a lot of shit over their dead son even if it hadn't even really been their own faults in the first place. judging her family, they didn't seem capable to drive anyone to their death, let alone a death at their own hands. he was curious to know what had brought upon his suicide, but he wouldn't ask her because if she wanted to share, she would. he had already pried to far into her life at this point, and now his job was to just calm her down. his fingers started to rub designs into one of her hips as the other went up to cup her cheek so he could look her in the eye. "bea, it wasn't your fault." she probably needed to hear that. if one of his sisters died, he would be blaming himself for it and she figured that's exactly what the girl in front of him was doing, when she really shouldn't.
he began to sing softly to her, gently petting her hair and continuing with the rubbing of her hips. he wasn't trying to put her to sleep, but if that's what it would take he would. he just didn't want to see her cry, not at all. it looked as though she was close at this point,
