Natalie was just having one of those off days, where she couldn't focus. It was difficult, it was impossible for her to, it just wasn't physically possible for once. It was one of those few times in her life that she'd just walk, just act if she wast out in nature enjoying it, even if it wasn't true. It wasn't a bit, not at all, it just wasn't how she lived. Cooping herself up in a small apartment, was how she had been living. Not as if she had much of a social life either, she was just working, acting as if she didn't mind. And honestly, she just minded the fact a small bit, just the tiniest detail.
Natalie was not a perfect person, but she was a bit of a goody-two-shoes, she didn't party, she just worked. It wasn't just because of her need to live higher in life, no it was fear. Fear that she'd be the person having to have someone drive her home every night, someone that would get hurt. That was her with her parents, she'd wait for hours, and just drive them home. They didn't even remember her name at times from how drunk they got, it was more than just some hangover, no it was 'living'. At least that was their definition, and if this what it was to 'live' then she wanted no part in it.
The forest was full of beautiful things, but Natalie was unable to stop and smell the flowers. That was how simple it was to her, to just walk by, as if she didn't notice how it was thriving. Just like social situations, just like parties. That was how she made it by, how she acted as if everything was perfect. It wasn't, but she knew it, why act? There was no point to her, she was lost, and she was going to live a better life. With all the luxuries of getting to put her friends in front of work, that would happen if she finished this last year. That was what was going to change. It had to be.
"Let's see five times the variable x, divided by the sum of six plus x, equals three so what is x? X has to be less than the number ten, according to this inequality here." She pondered for a moment then answered her own question, it was nine. Because five times nine equals forty-five, forty-five divided by fifteen (the sum of nine and six) equaled nine. That wasn't too hard to start her studies with, a nice warm-up for her brain, easier than some of the things she'd start with.
Her books were sprawled out in front of her, they were mainly literature that she was analyzing for symbolizism. It was what her teacher had told her to do, it was what she would have liked to do anyways. She had to clock in time to become the best of the best, you don't just do that by slacking off. Sure she had been working jobs ever since the age of sixteen, but breaks, really? That was a poor variable to her life, that was what it was. A bad calculation for her to even think of, how silly it was that she was ever to think that it was right. She mentally slapped herself, those were stupid things to be crossing her mind.
Although at the time she didn't notice, she was around wildflowers, it was a nice looking meadow. Very beautiful and vibrant with color, unlike what she was. She was just gray, black and white, normal. The average person, just without much of a social life, and a working personality. It was addictive to blend in with the text, maybe that was her way of dealing with their death. Just like staying ever so vigilant, it was important to her, to stay out of the crowd.
